Anglicare SA, Loss and Grief Centre was established in partnership with the School of Social Work, Flinders University.

The Centre offers individual and family counselling.

All staff have relevant and recognised professional qualifications.

Anglicare SA works for people from all backgrounds to make a positive difference. All staff work with respect for clients’ rights to self determination and their own belief system.

Bereaved Through Suicide Support Group

When a relative or close friend suicides – you are not alone – The Bereaved Through Suicide Support Group provides help and guidance to those grieving the loss of someone through suicide.

The group comprises people from all walks of life. Their common link is that they have been close to someone who has suicided – relative, child, friend or acquaintance. They are able to provide help and guidance to anyone bereaved through suicide. They are able to provide many of the answers to your questions through their personal experiences and provide comfort and support to help you through this difficult time.

The group is administered by its own committee and is supported by a council of professional advisors.

The easiest way to make contact initially is by telephoning or writing to Bereaved Through Suicide Support Group Inc.

CanTeen – The Australian Organisation for Young People Living with Cancer

CanTeen supports, develops and empowers teenagers living with cancer by providing a high quality Australia-wide peer support network of teenagers living with cancer and their teenage brothers and sisters, who share experiences, have fun, offer resources and promote understanding, well being and leadership.

Carers SA

Carers SA is a non-profit, community-based organisation with a membership in the thousands, most of whom are individual carers.  Carers SA is part of a National Network of Carers Associations that includes all state Carers Associations and Carers Australia.  Carers SA provides support to all carers, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender or condition of person/s cared for.

Carers SA services are supported by financial assistance from the Commonwealth and State Government.

Counselling is available for carers at all stages of their caring role, including bereaved carers for up to two years after the caring role has ceased.

Centacare offers a confidential, professional counselling service for those confronted by loss and grief and work to provide a sympathetic and practical support as people journey through the grieving process.

Homicide Victim Support Group

The H.V.S.G. of S.A. is a self support group for the families and friends of homicide victims. We have three main objectives: support, education and reform. We hold monthly meetings and produce a trimonthly newsletters. We can also arrange to meet one-to-one. We offer long term support with no restrictions on time.

LIFELINE

LIFELINE provides a 24hr telephone counselling service that is compassionate, non-judgmental, confidential and supportive of people from all walks of life, in need or in crisis.
Counsellors are trained to help with crises in areas such as isolation, relationship difficulties, domestic violence, suicide, youth issues, loss and grief, mental health, child abuse, sexual abuse, drug and alcohol abuse, gambling etc.

LIFELINE has been helping South Australians of all ages, religions and social groups since 1963. In that time, our counsellors have dealt with just about every human problem.

SIDS and Kids provides bereavement support for all sudden unexpected deaths from conception up to and including 6 years of age. The cause of death could be miscarriage, SIDS, accidental death, fast onset illness and stillbirth.

The Cancer Council Helpline

The Cancer Council Helpline is a support and information service for people concerned about cancer or affected by cancer personally or indirectly.

The Helpline is staffed by nurse health counsellors who have extensive experience in cancer nursing and counselling. The Helpline provides information and support and is the first access point for other Cancer Council services such as counselling and cancer support programs. Information can also be provided on support available in the community.

The Cancer Council South Australia provides the Helpline as a free and confidential service.

It is the first point of access for information on Cancer Council services and provides professional support to people concerned about cancer.
